Summary

A quiet alternative to the RSPB reserve

Location

  • TF765437
  • 52.961619, 0.626393

This quiet lane is situated to the east of the RSPB reserve and runs parallel to the main path of the reserve. The lagoons are not as productive but there is reedbed where you can see Marsh Harriers, Bearded Tits and potentially Bittern. The first part of the walk is through woods which are good for common warblers and attract migrants in spring ad Autumn, for example Pied Flycatchers and Redstarts. The path then opens out onto grazing meadows and a series of fresh water pools on your right, these can hold scarce grebes and ducks in winter. The path eventually brings you out at Brancaster Golf Club and onto the beach between Brancaster and the RSPB reserve.
