Summary
Arguably the best sea watching spot in the county
Location

The shelters on Sheringham sea front provide arguably the best sea watching spot in the county, the birds may come closer in at cley but the shelter at Sheringham provides a lot more comfort especially in bad weather. The season runs from August through to early November, to get the best out of this site you need a strong NW wind and squalling showers. It can still be worth a visit in a strong westerly but anything with a bit of North is much better.
With reasonable conditions you are likely to see Manx Shearwaters, Great and Arctic Skuas, Gannets, Kittiwakes, Auks, Terns and gulls. If you have optimum conditions all 4 skuas can be seen in a day along with Sooty & Balearic Shearwaters Leach’s Petrel, Sabine’s Gull and if you are very lucky Cory’s Shearwater. These ‘big’ days can also produce large volumes of commoner species with kittiwakes and Gannets sometimes into the 1,000’s and maybe 100+ Great Skuas.
Target Species
Shearwaters, Skuas, Gulls, Petrels, Auks, Divers, wildfowl and Grebes.
