Barton Broad is accessed via a board walk from the village of Irstead at the southern end. Turn at the pub in Neatishead and follow the road for half a mile, the car park is a signed right turn from here. Park and walk along the footpath through the field then along the lane until you come to the disabled car park and start of the circular board walk. The damp wood here is good for Cettiā€™s Warbler and Otters are regularly seen from the viewing platform. In winter the broad is good for diving ducks including Goldeneye, Pochard & Tufted duck and possibly something rarer. In a harsh winter you may also see Smew. It is also a good spot for passage Little Gulls and both Black and Arctic Terns, while Common Terns breed.
